This tutorial will review the manual installation of CubeCart on your account. The process provides more configuration options than the automated Softaculous installation of CubeCart.
The Manual Installation of CubeCart includes the following steps:
The first step is to download the application's installation package. You can complete that via the official CubeCart website. You need to choose the version that you wish to install for the development of your website and then click on it to download. We recommend using the latest CubeCart release, as it provides the latest fixes and improvements.
The next step is to prepare the files and upload them to your account on the server. First, extract the files of the archive on your local computer. This will extract all of the files that you need for the new CubeCart installation.
When you are ready, you can proceed uploading the files to the server. The important thing to consider is the location, where you wish to install CubeCart on your account. For example, if you would like to install it directly on the primary domain of your account, you will have to upload the CubeCart installation files directly to the public_html/ directory of your account. However, if you wish to install the application on a subfolder or a subdomain, the location will be different.
Upload Files
There are two ways of uploading your files to the server - using an FTP client, following our FTP tutorial, or uploading directly through your cPanel account > File Manager, following our cPanel tutorial.
To initiate the installation of CubeCart, you simply need to access the location of your CubeCart installation files via your web browser. This will automatically call the installation script. The first step is the Compatability Check, which will review the hosting environment and ensure that it is suitable for CubeCart. As FastComet provides a fully-optimized hosting for the application, you will not experience any difficulties on this step.
On the next step, simply click on the Continue button, as you are building a new website and you do not have any previous data on it.
The next step is the license agreement. You need to review it carefully and accept if you wish to proceed with the installation.
On the next step, the system will check the permissions of the files and folders of the new CubeCart installation. You will not have any issues on this step so simply click on the Continue button to proceed.
The next step will request some additional information from you, so the system can configure the new CubeCart installation. First, you need to enter the database settings for your new website:
MySQL Configuration
You can create a new database and a user assigned to it via cPanel. Simply follow our MySQL Wizard tutorial for information on that.
The second option is the Store Settings, which includes:
You also have the option to set the administrative user for your new website. This is an important information that you need to keep a note of, as it will be used for the actual management of your new website. The options are:
Click on the Continue button to initiate the actual installation process.
The system will complete the installation of CubeCart for a few seconds. Once completed, you will be presented with a successful message and links to the front and back end of your website.
Keep a note of those details for a future reference.
You have successfully installed CubeCart manually. For more on configuration and management, check the rest of our tutorials.
