How to Manage the Spam Options in vBulletin

There is an important aspect of a website development, which is improving the security of vBulletin forums. A lot of people usually forget to configure the spam options on their website and they suffer a great amount of bot registrations and spamming on their forums.

 

vBulletin introduce a proper way to fight against spam and it is important to set them per your exact needs. To do so, you need to access the AdminCP area of your website. Then you need to locate the Settings tab and then Spam Settings.

 

Access spam manager in vBulletin

 

Edit the following options: 

 

  • Anti-Spam Akismet Service - If you are using the Akismet anti-spam service, you can enable it here
  • Anti-Spam Akismet Content Key - If you enabled the option above, you need to enter your Akismet Content Key here
  • Stop Forum Spam Settings - This will provide different options for stopping spam on your website. Review them carefully for more information on that
  • Auto Moderation Settings - Enter specific words, which are considered as spam on your website

 

Edit spam options in vBulletin

 

When you complete the spam configuration on your website, you can simply click on the Save button at the bottom-right corner of the screen to keep the changes.
