We swing into action with Atanas, our Level 3 Technical Support Specialist, who’s been rocking the role for almost three years. That’s some serious web-slinging experience! ️Atanas isn’t your average hero, though. He doesn’t chase bank robbers. At FastComet, he tackles a different kind of challenge: helping our users’ websites conquer the web.

What’s Your Current FastComet Title? How Long Have You Been Rocking It?

Hey there, I am part of FastComet’s Level 3 Technical Support and have proudly held the fort as your go-to Spiderman for nearly three years now! No, not the one swinging through skyscrapers (though that would be cool), but the one spinning solutions or servers for our users. It’s been quite the journey, tackling tech challenges and ensuring our users’ online spaces stay safe and sound. I wasn’t thinking about how long I’ve been here, as joining FastComet has unequivocally been one of the most rewarding decisions I have ever made. Working with talented individuals and engaging in exciting projects has been an invaluable experience that continues to drive my passion for the IT industry.

A typical day involves ☕a lot of it. Then, a good music playlist that prepares my 🧠 for untangling technical challenges, weaving solutions, and leaving our users with a thumbs-up experience 😉

What Gets You Fired Up About Your Role at FastComet, Atanas?

What fires me up about my role at FastComet is the pure satisfaction of seeing a customer’s face light up after we’ve untangled a complex technical hurdle. I remember one instance where a small business owner was on the verge of tears because their website went down right before a big promotion.  We worked together through the night, troubleshooting every angle, and finally got their site back online just in time. The relief and gratitude in their email the next day was the best reward I could ask for.  Knowing that our efforts can have such a tangible impact on people’s businesses and dreams is what keeps me coming back for more.

  • Coffee or Tea? Coffee all the way! Gotta stay sharp to tackle those digital dilemmas;
  • Cats or Dogs? I’m undoubtedly a dog person. I recently bid farewell to my beloved husky, Betty, who was a cherished companion for 12 years;
  • Early Bird or Night Owl? Given the ever-awake nature of the internet and the unpredictability of technical issues, I’ve adapted to be a bit of both – always on standby to tackle website woes whenever they strike!

The Internet Never Sleeps But You Do! When You’re Not at Work, What are Your Hobbies?

Outside of the digital world, I unleash my inner champion volleyball player! Believe it or not, I used to play professionally until I was 22. That competitive spirit lives on with my awesome hobby team, “Нямат Решение” (which humorously translates to “No Solution”). It’s a pretty fitting name for a team, right?  Outside of volleyball, I love a good puzzle to challenge my mind, spiking aces at table tennis (watch out!), and unwinding with friends and movie marathons.

What’s Your Biggest Professional or Personal Goal for This Year, Atanas?

Looking ahead to the future, my primary professional goal for this year is to always enhance my skills and expertise in my field. I aim to continue learning and growing, staying updated with the latest advancements and trends in technology. Additionally, I aspire to take on more challenging projects and contribute positively to the success of my team.

On a personal level, my goal is to prioritize my well-being and maintain a healthy work-life balance. This includes dedicating time to activities that bring me joy and fulfilment outside of work, such as spending quality time with loved ones, pursuing hobbies, and focusing on personal growth and development. 

Confess! Have You Ever Made a Hilarious Typo When Replying to a Customer?

My name might be a bit of a giveaway, but I’m originally from Bulgaria. That means we use a different alphabet called Cyrillic. Let’s just say one day, after a particularly intense cup of coffee (and maybe forgetting to switch my keyboard language), I ended up having a surprisingly delightful conversation in Bulgarian with a customer from Asia! They were sure I was speaking “Chinese” to them, but hey, we all have those days. The best part? They were a good sport about it, and we shared a good laugh. It’s these unexpected moments that make this job even more enjoyable. 

What’s the Weirdest Technical Question You’ve Ever Been Asked?

I once had a customer who was having trouble connecting and sending messages. After some communication, I realized that they were referring to their Skype and Viber issues while I had been troubleshooting their email problems. It took some time for me to understand the miscommunication, as I had been checking every possible issue that could be causing the problem, even though everything was working correctly. When we finally realized the mistake, we both had a good laugh.

Working Remotely Comes With Perks! What’s Your Favorite Part About Working From Anywhere?

One of the best things about working remotely is the flexibility it offers. Being able to work from anywhere means I can create my ideal work environment. It allows me to balance work and personal life better, giving me more control over my schedule and allowing me to spend more time with my family and friends.

What Advice Would You Give Someone Considering a Career in Tech?

For someone eyeing a career in tech, I’d say, “Embrace the journey, my friend!” Never let setbacks dim your enthusiasm, stay curious like a cat, and remember, learning is the name of the game. The tech world is a vast playground waiting to be explored, so dive in headfirst, and who knows what wonders you’ll uncover!
