Employee Spotlight: Slavi S. – The Champion

The summer is in full swing: the sun is shining and the heat is starting to get unbearable. We cannot wait to get away from it, and there are few things better for cooling off than spending a day at a pool. Or, in our star champion’s case: a lake. Meet Slavi S. Whether he’s casting a line, competing at a high level in model boat races, or handling customer questions or issues, he knows how to handle the heat.

As part of our Customer Success team, Slavi is often the first point of contact for new users. He brings focus, enthusiasm, and a calm-under-pressure attitude to every customer interaction, no matter the difficulty or complexity. But beyond the support desk, there’s a whole world of talent and experience waiting to be discovered. From national championships to scale modelling artistry, let’s dive in and get to know the man behind the support replies.

Please tell us a little about yourself, your role, and what a typical day looks like, Slavi.

Hi! My name is Slavi, and I’m part of the Customer Success team here at FastComet. My role involves assisting customers with sales and technical inquiries, guiding new users through our hosting plans, or resolving domain name issues. A typical day for me starts with a cup of coffee and making sure our clients get the best customer care and service. Every case is different so no two days are ever quite the same — and that’s what keeps it exciting!

How did you get started in this field? What led you to this company?

I’ve always had an interest in technology and helping people, so working in web hosting felt like a natural fit. I started out with small projects like websites and learning about hosting platforms. Eventually, that ignited the passion I have and led me to be better every day. I discovered FastComet while researching companies that put both innovation and customer care first. I immediately connected with the culture and mission here.

What is a valuable lesson you have learned in your career so far?

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that communication is just as important as technical knowledge. Whether it’s explaining something to a customer or working on a complicated case, being able to break down complex ideas in a clear and empathetic way makes all the difference.

Is there anything fun or unexpected about you that your colleagues might not know?

I’m actually really into fishing, I love it. Outside of work, it helps me relax and gives me a creative outlet.

There is something even more exciting, though. With a career spanning over a decade in competitive model boat racing, I am an eight-time national champion of Bulgaria and a three-time bronze medallist at European championships. I have proudly represented my country in numerous European and World Cup events, earning several distinguished titles along the way.

My dedication to the sport began in my youth, where I repeatedly secured the title of Bulgarian champion in the junior category. Today, I continue to contribute to the community as an active competitor and a certified judge in senior-level events.

In addition to competitive racing, I am also deeply involved in the field of model boat building — a discipline where entries are evaluated purely on aesthetics. In this area, I have achieved significant success as well, winning important medals at both European and World Championships.

And how does a day outside of work look like for you?

 When I’m not working, I like to recharge by spending time with my family and pets, trying out new fishing sports, or playing some video games. I also enjoy the occasional hike or weekend trip to get a change of scenery.

What advice would you give to someone interested in your career path?

 Stay curious and never stop learning. Hosting is a field where things evolve quickly, so keeping up with trends and technology is key. But just as important is having a strong sense of empathy and patience — especially when you’re supporting users who are new to it all.
